Description: Situated in the North West of Mayo. This park is both an SPA and SAC and is Ireland's sixth National Park. It has a wide variety of habitats including blanket bog, heath, low mountains, lakes and river. The National Park Visitors Centre is due to open in 2009 and will provide educational facilities and a viewing area. It will be situated in Ballycroy (between Mulranny and Bangor on the N59) Neighbouring Sites: Mulranny Carrowmore Lake Birds to be seen or heard include: All Year Red Grouse, Dipper, Woodcock, Ravens and raptors including Peregrine Falcon, Kestrels and Sparrowhawks Winter Greenland White-fronted Geese, Whooper Swan, Golden Plover, Hen Harrier Further Details on this Park are available from: http://www.ballycroynationalpark.ie back to top |
