Ballycroy National Park and Nephin OS Discovery Series - Map No 23


Description:
Situated in the North West of Mayo. This park is both an SPA and SAC and is Ireland's sixth National Park. It has a wide variety of habitats including blanket bog, heath, low mountains, lakes and river.
The National Park Visitors Centre is due to open in 2009 and will provide educational facilities and a viewing area. It will be situated in Ballycroy (between Mulranny and Bangor on the N59)

All Year
Red Grouse, Dipper, Woodcock, Ravens and raptors including Peregrine Falcon, Kestrels and Sparrowhawks

Winter
Greenland White-fronted Geese, Whooper Swan, Golden Plover, Hen Harrier
