SUPERGOOSE IN MAYO!!

One of the three Light Bellied Brent Geese ringed and fitted with a satellite in Canada last summer is wintering in south west Mayo.

'Hawkeye', his mate and their four goslings were ringed at their summer breeding grounds in Canada last summer.  Hawkeye was fitted with a satellite tracking system and has been tracked travelling from Canada to Iceland, onto Strangford Lough, then Tralee Bay where he stayed for a while.   Over the Christmas period they moved north to the Clew Bay area.  The family  have been seen over the last week feeding  in Mulranny among a group of up to 150 Light Bellied Brent.
